This afternoon will be spent with other members of Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Community Safety conducting unannounced oversight visits to three police stations in Cape Town, to conduct a preliminary assessment of their facilities and assess their readiness and effectiveness. I will only be able to mention the three police stations names after the visit.

There after, the Standing Committee will prepare a report for discussion with MEC Dan Plato and the senior SAPS officials under Lieutenant General Lamoer, where our concerns will be raised and the MEC/SAPS asked to resolve them.

If there is a police station near you that you believe needs such a visit at some stage in the future, for whatever reason (to highlight problems or best practice, etc), feel free to message me.
