“But African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) councillor Grant Haskin has questioned why the city waited so long.
“The city’s had this information for 10 years, we welcome your announcement that you’re now going to be looking into it with regards to harvesting that water. But it needs to be harvested for human use.”
Our primary contention remains that:
- The City used to use this water for human consumption, but then stopped
- in 2010 the City started using a small proportion of this water for the gardens at the newly built Green Point Urban Park
- it seems the City believes that having flourishing gardens is more important. It’s utterly the wrong priority.
- the first step ought to be prioritising it for human consumption. Whats left can be used for the gardens.
