About Grant

Hi and welcome to my blog.  I am a politician based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Currently I am the Caucus Leader for the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in the City of Cape Town, being a recently re-elected Councillor (as from 03 August 2016). I am also ACDP’s Chair of the Federal Council (the party’s highest decision making body outside of the National General Convention), thus I also sit on the National Executive Committee of the party. Finally, I look after the media office for the Western Cape Province of the ACDP.

I’ve completed BA (Hons) in political studies at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), hoping to get to my Masters thesis soon.

I am a very proud and devoted dad and love riding my 2010 Harley-Davidson Crossbones and 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Previous political offices I have held include: Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town (2007-2009), Member of the Mayoral Committee: Community Services (2007), Member of WC Provincial Parliament (2004-2007, 2012 – 2014), Special Delegate to the NCOP, City Councillor and Caucus Leader (2000 – 2004).  Internally in the ACDP, I have held various elected posts including Provincial Leader, Provincial Chair, Provincial Secretary-General and Deputy Chair of the Federal Council (National).

My aim with this blog is to develop it as a public record of my political work for the ACDP.
